Gem & Mineral Society of Lynchburg promotes, educates and encourages interest in geology, mineralogy, lapidary arts and related sciences. The society is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies, Eastern Federation of Mineralogical & Lapidary Societies, Inc., Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies, Inc., and Dixie Mineral Council.

We Meet Meetings are held from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month in the auditorium of the: The Fairview Neighborhood Center 3621 Campbell Ave. Lynchburg, VA MEMBERSHIP Membership benefits: Collecting trips / field trips are for club members only Monthly meetings with fun activities such as auctions, lapidary workshops, presentations, and general socializing Engaging guest speakers Learn all about mineral and fossil collecting, lapidary arts and related interests from fellow members Dues:  1 adult, 18 years & over $15.00 annually 2 adults (i.e. spouses / partners) $18.25 annually Additional secondary (non-voting) $3.25 annually Membership Application Form MEETINGS Meetings are held from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM on the third Wednesday of each month in the auditorium of the: The Fairview Neighborhood Center 3621 Campbell Ave. Lynchburg, VA PICTURES

The Society is the oldest mineralogical and lapidary organization in Virginia. Celebrating over 60 years of fun, the first meeting was held on September 23, 1954. The Northern Virginia Mineral Club was begun in the mid 1950’s with the aim of promoting members’ shared fascination with and learning about minerals, geology, and related topics. The club has organized countless field trips to mines and quarries over the years, organized mineral shows, educational activities, various interesting speakers, and much more.

MEMBERSHIP Membership benefits: Collecting trips / field trips are for NVMC members only Monthly meetings with fun activities such as auctions, presentations, and general socializing Engaging guest speakers Learn all about mineral and fossil collecting, lapidary arts and related interests from fellow members Dues: Due by January 1st of each year; $15.00 Individual, $20.00 Family, and $6.00 Junior (under 16, sponsored by an adult member). Membership Application Form MEETINGS Meetings are held at 7:45 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at Long Branch Nature Center, 625 Carlin Springs Road, Arlington, VA, 22204. In the SVGMS, we have local experts and educators who know rocks, have rocks, and make art out of rocks and are delighted to share this with you. Each month, we gather for an evening of discussion of all things rock-related, with a program presented by our own or other notable experts for our mutual education and interest in the mineralogy of Virginia and the places we travel. We would enjoy an opportunity to inspire your curiosity and enhance your knowledge about all things relating to the rocks and minerals around us. We look forward to welcoming you to our club and enjoying your company while we all seek the next interesting thing to be learned as we explore the stories inside rocks. Tidewater Gem & Mineral Society Our purpose is to encourage interest and study in geology, mineralogy, lapidary, and allied earth sciences. The Tidewater Gem and Mineral Society is a non-profit organization, founded in 1959 by a small group interested in the hobbies of mineral collecting and lapidary. Meetings: Society meetings start at 7:30 p.m. and are held the third Friday of each month (except December) on the property of the Saint Luke’s United Methodist Church at 3396 Stoneshore Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
